This is how Cristiano reacted when Eder scored the goal.. I’m overjoyed for what this man achieved last night with his country. Cristiano Ronaldo is the sole reason I started watching football and fell in love with the sport. The way he played was unique, fearless, and always entertaining. Throughout the years we’ve seen him grow into different roles for his team, but last night was different for Cristiano. He came off injured mid-way into the first half and it broke my heart to see him so distraught, and in tears. Football can be so cruel and merciless at times. At the age of 19, he lost the 2004 Euro final against Greece. He had to wait 12 years to have another chance, and this should’ve been his moment, but his injury was too severe and he had to substituted. This didn’t break his spirit though. From the bench he rallied his teammates, inspired and encouraged them until the final whistle. It was an amazing display of leadership and passion, and when the match ended he cried again, this time tears of joy. He really is one of the greatest players to ever play the game and it’s not just down to skill, but the hard work he puts in and his passion for the game. I’m not ashamed to say that I’ll cry the day he retires from the game. Congratulations Cristiano, you really are an inspiration to many of us.
